There are several areas of your health and wellness journey that you should keep track of. You may find yourself skipping meals, missing your daily exercise, or struggling with your mental health. Keeping a health and wellness journal could be the solution to your problems. A journal could help you track your progress, set goals, and make tiny changes which can lead to a healthier and happier you. In this blog post, I highlight some important things to include in your health and wellness journal.
 
Food and Water Intake - A food and water intake diary is important to help you keep track of the kind of food you take and the amount of water you drink. You can easily monitor your intake by recording each meal, including snacks and drinks throughout the day. You could also include any cravings, how you felt after eating, and any food intolerances. Keeping track of your food intake will give you a better understanding of your eating habits and help you make healthier choices.
 
Fitness and Exercise - Including your fitness and exercise routine in your journal is essential. Here, you can document your daily workouts, including the duration and intensity of each session. This allows you to have a clear picture of your fitness level and progress. By tracking your progress, you can adjust your set goals and make plans to incorporate any new fitness routines and activities.
 
Mental Health - Keeping track of your mental health is as important as taking care of your physical health, if not more. In your journal, record any negative thoughts or emotions you experience, as well as any stressors or triggers that might have caused this state. Additionally, jot down self-care activities you tried like meditation, deep breathing exercises, and positive affirmations. By recording your thoughts and feelings regularly, you can identify patterns and learn to manage stressors and triggers to maintain your mental health and wellness.
 
Sleep - Recording your sleep pattern is crucial to identify and improve the quality for better health and wellness. Keep a record of the time you go to bed, the time you wake up, and how you felt the next morning. In your journal, document anything that may have impacted your sleep such as caffeine intake, alcohol or food, or even lack of exercise on a particular day.

These important elements that you should include in your journal, which are measurements, food and water intake, exercise routine, mental health, and sleep. It is important to customize your journal to fit your individual health and wellness needs. Consistency is key!
