There is some fluctuation in what you need based on age, sex, pregnancy and other things. But, there are general guidelines that work pretty well for everyone. At some point you’ve probably heard “half your body weight in ounces per day”. So, if you weight 150 lbs you need 75 ounces of water per day. Did your eyes just get wide as visions of floating away swirl around in your head? That may sound like an impossible number but, believe me, it’s totally doable. Get yourself a water bottle that you love. Maybe even one with a fun picture or quote on it, or if you’re feeling crafty, make one to stick on with a Cricut machine. They’ve come down in price and even come in smaller sizes like this one. Or, grab one of these larger water bottles that help you see your progress throughout the day. Carry it with you everywhere you go! If you grab yourself a stainless steel or glass water bottle you can even squirt in some Citrus Vitality Essential Oils for some flavor. Getting enough water every day is incredibly important to your health. Not only can water prevent dehydration, it also helps regulate your body weight, lubricates your joints, gets rid of waste through perspiration and bathroom elimination, regulates body temperature, improves skin and so much more. You can tell if you’re drinking enough water by looking at your urine. It should be very pale yellow and odorless.
On the opposite side of the coin, not getting enough water comes with it’s own host of problems. You can become dehydrated, fatigued, have headaches, bad breath, constipation, dry skin, etc. You are more susceptible to frequent illnesses. It also promotes inflammation which is one of the leading causes of chronic diseases these day. Once again, you can tell you’re not drinking enough water by looking at your urine. It will be darker in color and often have an odor. Initially when you add more water to your day you will notice a lot more trips to the restroom. But, after a couple days, your body will get used to the additional fluid and it levels out a bit. So, grab your water bottle and get on your way to a healthier life. xoxo, Melissa
